According to a local newspapper, a Home Depot in Albany New York has fired an employee, 60 year old Maurice Rucker (above) who had been with them for more than a decade, after a customer went on a racist rant, calling him names and cursing him out.

Yes, you read that right. The employee was fired after the customer went on a racist tirade.

It seems that the customer walked in to the Home Depot with a dog with no leash. Rucker asked the man if he would please put a leash on the dog, as it is Home Depot's policy to allow pets in the stores, but only if they are controlled by a leash.

That's a wise policy, and one that I can appreciate and support.

However, this particular customer did not. He became enraged, cursing out the Home Depot employee, using racial and other derogatory vulgarities. Although the altercation didn't turn physical, there were words exchanged between the two after that. But because Rucker didn't deescalate the situation to management's satisfaction, they fired him.

This seems unfair to me and something I don't appreciate or support.

I have had a bad feeling and taste for Home Depot for the last several years after watching Ken Langooon (Langone, actually... HD's original money backer) pollute the airwaves and business media with his Trumpian love and ultra-right wingnut philosophies, but this seals the deal. I'm done with Home Depot.

A wise man said "Watch when a man pulls out his wallet and you will know his heart."

So, Home Depot, you will no longer get anything out of my wallet as you have nothing in your heart worth buying.

Ba-bye.
