Notice how there's no mention of what service the ATO has provided in relation to any gains you've made here. Like if you were growing lemons, and selling for a profit, they might say, 'Your taxes help us build roads so lemon farmers like yourself can deliver your produce to market'
There's not even an attempt at justification here.
Just, 'We know you have it, and you owe it to us because we said so.'
