Had a dream that there were these 2 fish bowls in front of me. The bigger one had some fish in it, looking normal, swimming around. Then there was a smaller one that had a few in it. And something told me that I had to combine the 2 bowls. So I start to pour the smaller bowl into the bigger one. As I’m doing so, I notice that one of the fish appears to be dead or dying. I’m thinking, oh no! what do I do? But then as I’m pouring them into the bigger bowl, the dying one seems to perk up and be ok.
I believe that dreams are ways your unconscious tries to make sense of what’s going on in your life. Or your unconscious is trying to tell you something the ego (your conscious self) does not realize yet. When browsing around for possible meanings for this, one site Exemplor had an article that said the fishbowl is the “container of our emotions” and that watching fish in a fishbowl means feeling detached from society. And that really resonated with me, since recently I’ve been feeling disconnected from long time friends who don’t really know what’s going on in my life and my spiritual journey. Perhaps the 2 fish bowls is me compartmentalizing my emotions and the dying fish is the sadness from my disconnect from others.
Could there be another meaning? I suppose that’d be hard for someone else to determine without my life context. I'll see what other dreams may come...maybe a pattern will emerge.
