In this post there are three worksheets on practicing rounding a given number to nearest hundred. Again the place value skills are the key to perform good on these worksheets.
For example; consider we want to round 6,745 to nearest hundred. First we need to know the two hundreds 6,745 is in between. Clearly 6,745 is between 6,700 and 6,800 and thus we have two choices to round 6,745, which are either 6,700 or 6,800. But 6,745 is closer to 6,700 than 6,800 and hence we will round down 6,745 to 6,700.
My trick is to underline the hundreds digit and look at digit to its right (which is tens digit) and if tens digit is 0,1,2,3 and 4 then we round down and if the tens digit is 5, 6, 7, 8 or 9 we round up the hundreds digit. Below are the worksheets to practice this concept;
