RE: Reflections on the Foucault pendulum
Brings back childhood memories of science museums visits. ^^ Because of friction etc these pendulums would eventually stop. So there is probably a magnet in place somewhere so that it doesn't lose energy

RE: Research diaries #20: Builing another PC
If you wanna commit a bit of money to it. I would buy a cheap second hand Hp microserver gen8. In NL I could get these in the price range of 125-350 euro. (125 probably something requires fixing)

RE: Research diaries #20: Builing another PC
woelfchen suggestion is good. For pi you would have to learn/know linux. It depends very much on your application. But if you are starting out why not just deploy it on your main machine as the investment

RE: UNDER THE OAKS OF NESACTIUM
It looks like a fungal hypha. Perhaps Neurospora Crassa. The underlying cells that make up the fungal hypha are actually extremely elongated very different from ordinary cells which are more like tiny

RE: Research diaries #18: About inflation returning to normal levels
To make rigorous that A -> B is quite hard. For these type of problems you would have to define a directed acyclic graph (DAG) for how different components are related and then hope that the given data

RE: Research diaries #18: About inflation returning to normal levels
I just checked their website. I cannot really find how they compute their inflation index is it like a weighted average over those 12 components?
