My Dad is one of those people who are impossible to buy for. Christmas has the uncanny knack of being at the same time each year, and yet he still struggles to come up with ideas of what he might like. 30th of November and he's still scratching his head.
For Christmas this year I decided to just not bother asking and go for wine. I thought half a case of a mixed selection would do the trick. We found some Fetească neagră and Fetească regală as well as other Romanian wines.
Nice gift, but pretty standard. So, how to elevate it? Put the wine in a proper crate.
I thought this would be a bit of fun, and the create can be decorated with a Christmas message.
I'd really like to burn the design into the wood. I thought my husband had the necessary tools; in fact he has an engraver. Here he is at work.
It looks ok, but not what I want. I even had a go at using the blow torch to go over the engraving.
A quick google later, and it turns out I need this product. Apparently the art of burning patterns into wood is called PYROGRAPHY!!!!! Gosh, that sounds exciting.
I have all next week off work, so I have plenty of time to get a pyrography set and go crazy on this wine crate.
Updates soon to come! Thanks for having a look :)
