There is no way everyone can be equal. Some people are just trying to survive. When it comes to school, not everyone can afford to pay their fees without some kind of help. A lot of people are struggling to go to school because they want a better future, but some cannot even continue because of money problems. So when it comes to student loans, I think it is a great idea from the government. A lot of students are benefiting from it and some were able to finish their education because of the loan.

During my time in the university, I had friends who paid their school fees with the help of the loan and they were really happy about it. It helped them stop worrying about fees and they could actually focus on their studies. So many students will be grateful for that opportunity because of the relief it gives.

But there is another side to it. It seems everything that has advantages also has disadvantages. Honestly I do not know why life is like that. Sometimes I wish things could just have advantages without the disadvantages coming with it 馃槀 but that is just how life is and we have to deal with it. After finishing school, the debt starts piling up and I think that is a big burden for a young adult who is just trying to start life. I cannot imagine graduating and the next thing waiting for you is debt instead of trying to get a good job or start your own business. That would be overwhelming.

If they get a good job with good pay after school, I feel paying the debt will not be a big problem, even though they will still feel it. But not every graduate gets that opportunity. Some people spend months or even years looking for a decent job. So having to pay a loan when you do not have a good job will make things even more difficult. That can be really frustrating.

Now if the government decides to cancel student loan debt and the way they want to do it is to make everyone pay more taxes, including people who did not take the loan, I will be honest, I do not think it is fair. Some people are already dealing with a lot financially, so asking them to pay more tax will add to their responsibilities and put them under more pressure. Asking everyone to pay tax for a debt they did not incur does not sit right with me.

That does not mean I do not support student loans. I do. But I feel there should be a better way to do it. If the government wants to clear the debts, that is great, but I do not think everyone should be made responsible for it. Imagine being asked to pay tax for a debt you never collected. That is not fair. This is not about being selfish, I am just looking at it from the angle of fairness.

If there is a better way to support students with loan payments, I would definitely prefer it. For me, I think if loans are given with little or no interest, it would help a lot. And there should be a reasonable repayment plan. A plan that allows graduates to pay when they are financially capable, instead of putting unnecessary pressure on them right after school.
