Who can be a leader?

In recent times leaders, they say were born, but in today's world, we have come to discover that leaders are both born and made.

Who then is a leader?

A leader is first a follower, in terms of leadership, good leadership is about service towards your people.
In the context of a country, a president of a country can only be seen and regarded as a leader, if and only if he serves transparently and he is accountable for each of his actions and decisions.
In the context of family, the Father is regarded as a leader, if and only if He is protective, accountable and responsible towards his family.
In the context of an organization, a person is regarded as a leader, when he/she ensures that being successful entails your followers buying into the vision of the organization and having a shared vision of what the organization is all about.

A leader should know when to lead and when to follow. Follow through as I further explain what I mean by the sentence highlighted above.

As a leader, it is necessary not to get too emotional with your followers because this will make them feel relaxed and lazy when it comes to executing tasks. For example, A person who runs a computer business centre. as the owner of the business, you are not meant to always be lenient and playful with your staff just because you do not intend to lose them, if you are the kind of leader who does such, you are only paving way for the downfall of your business because this gives your staff the sense of they can do their task anytime they feel like. Although not in all cases, in most cases, staffs tend to become lazy in doing the jobs they are paid to do or completing a task assigned to them once they sense you are so lenient and forgiving.
Also, as a leader, you lead by example, in terms of showing your followers what is needed and required of them. This is why your staff must go for training and also mentoring class to help them better understand what is required of them and also help them build a career for themselves.
Being a leader is not about entitlement, it is about taking action. Leaders do what they say and are intentional about what they do.
