There is a popular proverb that goes as thus;
"Every cloud has a silver lining"
This proverb was rephrased as
"There is a silver lining on every dark cloud".
A cloud is a state of gloom, darkness, sadness or worry.
It is defined as a state of despair which causes anguish, pain and bitterness.
Likening the definition to a rain cloud, which is formed in the atmosphere as a result of evaporation of water vapour and condensation afterwards.
Thick rain clouds lead to darkness all over the earth.
In the same vain, every situation that causes bitterness, anguish, gloom and pain is a cloud.
The idea of clouds having silver linings comes from the fact that when the sun (or moon) bursts through a cloud it looks as if the interior is silver.
The sun bursting through a cloud is a good metaphor for a problem eventually having a positive outcome.
No matter how long a problem may seemingly last, there is always a comforting or more hopeful aspect, even though this may not be immediately apparent.
This idiomatic expression is just aimed at encouraging and motivating people to hold on even in the midst of problems because every problem definitely has a solution.
The question "will you be the silver lining?" is a critical question.
It means,"will you be the reason someone held on and not gave up on themselves because of thier problems?"
If you notice, the question wasn't "will you be A silver lining?", it was "will you be THE silver lining?".
The use of "THE" means specificity and necessity.
It means,"will you be all that is necessary to make someone smile in the presence of other substitutes?"
Anyone can have a thing,it takes just someone to have the thing, the requirement or the specification.
The reason for making my outfit black and silver its that it always preaches this message.
It's like that silver lining that brightenes up my dark clouds.
It's what I use when i'm in my darlest of outfits because I know,it will be that source of contrast and that ray of light.
