Born in 'simpler' times,
When life was enviably less complicated
You had to toil most days for food
And fetch water down a steep hill
Yet a disarming smile was never far from you
Your dad was recruited as a young man
To fight a war for total strangers
A mercenary in a strange land
Who didn't know he'd never set foot home again
His fate a is now a mystery
Yet you had many stories to share
That kept us glued to our seats
Such a remarkable memory
I can't even remember what I ate last night
The most resilient matriarch I knew
It's been years since you were laid to rest
Memories of you still visit my mind
You wished nothing more for us than the very best
I leave a reminder of you on the blockchain
Lest I forget about you on this side of eternity
