Bullying behavior has become one of the most worrisome practice in today schools. The most annoying of it is that it affects the phycological health of people, infringing their right to human dignity, privacy and freedom to security. It will be unwise to underestimate the physical, emotional and educational consequences of bullying behaviors in our schools.
The schooling idea was designed to help develop the students enrolled in them through knowledge acquisition, so that they may become social beings and learn to live harmoniously in the society. Not only that the school is a place to learn, it is also a place where students should feel safe and secure but today the reverse has become the case in our schools.

Just few days ago in Lagos Nigeria, an eleven (11) years old boy was allegedly bullied to him death by his senior colleagues at Dowen College.
What was his offense?
How does the parents feel right now?
What does the school authorities have to say about it.
None of this answers matters because the deed has been done, and this could happen to anyone's child. They only thing that shocks me is the fact the alleged suspects are already being considered on punishment exemption due to the fact they are tagged underage. Good, I respect the law that exempts underages from punishment of some crimes committed but I do that only in a country where laws are respected and strictly followed. For example, Places like the United States of America where having a sexual relationship with a minor could land one a jail term, I totally understand when their underages are exempted from crime punishment. However, do not call me a hypocrite, but in a country such as Nigeria where underages are being considered for marriage and other adult responsibilities, I do not agree with such law. " IF YOU CAN LIVE AND DO ADULTS THNGS, WHY CAN'T YOU BE PUNISHED AS ADULTS. But of course we have to give the law the chance as always. Anyway I hope Sylvester gets his justice

If you have paid attention in my types of bullying, you will notice that I included two strange types (Financial bullying and bullying by Reputation). This two types are mostly found in adults with high reputations and financially made men.
Personally, I was experienced first class bullying. First, seven year ago when I was a teacher in a school and second, just last year while obtaining my masters degree

The first I experienced, I called financial bullying. This was a case of a parent bullying the school's authorities because he felt he is investing a lot of money in them and as such his child is meant to get a preferencial treatment to the point of passing the child even when he least merited.
BUT THE QUESTION I ASK IS.
If the school passes a failed child, who looses?
Simple answer; the child and the society. Obviously, the child can't measure up in the society and the society on the other hand has just received another half baked graduate.

The second bullying experience happened to me just a year ago and this bullying I tagged "Bullying by Reputation". In 2018, I was admitted for a Post graduate diploma program. The course ran through 2018 to 2020 with me completing the academic load required of me. But to my greatest surprise, two months after defending and submit my thesis work, I was called upon that my completed thesis work has been cancelled and I am required to pick a new topic and start all over.
ARE THEY FOR REAL? Funny enough, I can remember being commended as the best presenter the day of my thesis defence, so what changed?
I got to learn that my thesis report was given to the then faculty dean, who is also an Air Commodore in the Air force and he deemed the topic not suitable for a PGD program. In his defence, the topic was of a higher class. Stating the obvious, this same questionable topic was given and approved for me by the department with a supervisor attached to it. The supervisor having approved the work I did and department having accepted it, while then was it cancelled at the 11th hour by the Dean and why is no one helping me out in questioning his action. Of course they can't because he seems to be their pillar and maker with me their prey.
NOW WHAT IS MY FATE?
Bullied to pick a new topic and start all over, I just danced to their tune because I was being threatened with expulsion if I don't (Bullying by Reputation). Anyway, the good news is I was able to move pass the obstacle

Now the question is WHAT CAUSES BULLYING?

  1. Insecurity; most people who bully others does that out of their own insecurity. The fear of not measuring up this have to find a way by every means.

  2. Poor Parenting; there is a saying that when a mother goat is eating, the kids looks and learn from her. Parents who bully's tends to have a bully as a child. However, the child himself is bullied

  3. Emvy and Jealousy; bullies tends to bully people who they feel are doing better than them at something. They however, undermines other people skills with act of aggression only to level the playing ground

  4. Loneliness; do you want to be friends with a bully? Definitely No. However, they try to find attention in any way possible even if it means causing others physical health issue.

  5. Inferiority complex; occurs mostly when they are ashamed by their intellectual ability or feels they lack the ability to succeed. This failure results to their frustration and thereby aggressiveness towards others.

Conclusion

No one is exempted from being bullied, it is just the case of where you found yourself and the behavior of people around you.
This means we all have a job to do. Let's put hands together and achieve a zero tolerance to bullying and save our society from phycological trauma.
