Language is very good, and I love how that with the aid of it we can be able to share our thoughts, express ourselves, communicate, profess our feelings and all. I wonder how difficult communicating with each other would have been assuming language wasn't there. What a beautiful thing the language is, especially with how we have different languages, it even made things even more interesting, lovely and beautiful.
Let's take my country Nigeria for instance, we're just so blessed.. we're blessed with a lot of things, one of which language is a part of. We're blessed with numerous languages, talk of Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, Efik, and a host of others. And this different cultures/tribes have their uniqueness in many things one of which also language is a part of... And I'm sure you will agree with me that beyond speaking or writing our language, it is as well a way of preserving our values.
And about learning my native language, to me it won't be hard in any way, I mean, it would be easier to learn it from scratch than to learn a completely new/different language. You know, this native language of mine is something I'm born into, it is what all those around me speak, I hear it every single day, people around me communicate with it, and I believe it will be just so natural of me to learn it. I won't need to pay or attend a school to even learn it.
I'm not saying school isn't good or won't help... Because a different kind of understanding is needed to read and write it, so school has it's place too. But then, learning it from scratch won't be hard, even if I will have to struggle with pronouncing or spelling some words, it will be just for a while, with practice all will definitely go smoothly. It won't even be difficult at all, because I already have a very good foundation from years of speaking and hearing it.
Now, it would be a different thing assuming I'm learning a completely different language. I'm sure you will agree with me that it won't be easy and it would definitely take a lot of time compared to learning a language I already know about. There will be the part of learning meanings, sounds, right pronunciation, spellings and all, it will definitely be very challenging. Just that it would be easy for someone who's born into it, the same way it would be easy for me if I was to learn my native language too.
Our native language to some extent is something we've underestimated, and I say that because we don't really see how hard it can be since we're born into it, what we see as hard is other people's language and w often wonder if we can ever know it or be able to speak it. We've become so familiar with ours that it looks so easy and simple. But learning it all over again I believe wouldn't be hard.
