The Bible says somewhere that "vanity upon vanity, all is vanity." I am not preaching here; I would have loved to see what else it might mean, different from what most of us often interpret it to be. But then, I would be going for that same thing most of us often say it is, which is money and material things. This isn't the focus, though; just citing it.
I Want To Be Remembered Not For What I Owned, But For Who I Helped.
In relation to that, in as much as I would love to live a good life, own things, be wealthy, and all of that, that wouldn't be all that I would want to be remembered for. I'm saying that at the end of the day, all of those matter, and even in living a good and impactful life, at some point in life those things would be helpful, either your wealth, connections, the name you've made for yourself, and the likes.
What I would love and want to be remembered for in particular wouldn't be the material things I owned and how much money I made but how I made good use of those things to touch lives, improve lives, and make a difference in the lives of people.
You know, it hits different when people say, "He has it, and he was kind with it; he has it, and he did it for everyone; he has it, and he made sure to ease people's burden with it." There's nothing as beautiful of a legacy as for people to be the ones saying how you gave them hope, came through for them, touched their lives, helped them, and all of that.
And we all need to understand something about this topic, legacy. It isn't just something we build after life or even towards the end of our lives; nah, it's something we build right from time. Talk of the way we treat others, how we handle issues, the help we rendered, and all of that. What we did towards the end of our lives might be what would stay with some people; what we've done years back when we didn't know we were building anything would be what would stay with some people.
So, for me, I feel I just need to continue with what I've been doing and, if possible, improve more on it. Talk of showing kindness, supporting others, forgiving, checking in on people, and all of that. So far, a few people can say that knowing me made their lives better, and that is enough of a thing to leave behind.
