There are times I look at myself and I'm wowed at how much I've changed, and I can say that a lot of factors contributed to that change of mine. Yeah, talk of people, experiences, and a lot that I had gone through and met with and all. Not as if all of these changes were sudden; nah, they happened slowly with time.
I remember how I was back then; I'm just all about growing up. I felt the older ones were cheating me and doing all sorts of things because I'm younger. Not only that, but I thought adulthood was the best; you don't have to bother or worry about anything. Funny enough, childhood seems to be full of answers much more than adulthood, where you're surrounded with different questions and expectations.
But then, considering all that I've had to go through while growing up, I can definitely see some changes. Back then, I used to care about what people would say, but at the moment, I still care, but I care less. I've realized this is my life, and there's no way I can please anyone and everyone, so I just do my thing. People will always talk.
Also, talk of trust. I'm a very free-spirited and friendly type of person; I'm still like that to this date, just that I've become very careful with who I trust. The fact that someone is being kind to me doesn't mean I can be free around them and trust them easily. I've realized that some people are only kind to you for their own gain, just to get what they want, and when they do, you see the actual person that they are. So, I pay very close attention and take my time. Of course, a good number of good people still exist.
Another thing I've learned is that I don't always have to act strong or that I have it all figured out. Especially as a guy, the society seems to not give room for us to show our weaknesses, but then, trust me, it is very okay to admit that you're tired and need some time out. At the end of the day, we all are human.
I can say I'm still that same guy in many ways; I still have that friendly vibe, that awesome sense of humor, and a lot more. I'm not just that young and naive anymore. Not only that, but I've learned a lot. And I've changed. Just that, like everyone, life taught us differently; mine came via pains, hurts, betrayals, and all. Even though I didn't see myself changing or learning through all the happenings then, today, I can say I see it clearly. Most aren't intentional; it just has to be that way.
