Principles for living – Part II: Faith.

Grow your faith

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. – Hebrews 11:1 (NIV)

Every believer, every Christian was given “the measure” of faith from the day he accepted Jesus as Bible admonishes in Romans 12:3:

For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

Notice the definite article in the phrase "…the measure of faith" in the scripture above. This implies a default/same measure of faith. When we accepted Jesus we received that default/latent measure of faith, but, that measure of faith is not enough. It is your responsibility to build, grow, increase and exercise your faith. You build/increase and grow your faith through study and meditation of the word of God (Acts 20:32)

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. – Romans 10:17.

After building/growing your faith, the next necessary thing to do is to exercise your faith. You exercise your faith by putting it to work, by activating it in different areas of your life. For example, you can exercise your faith in the area of your finance, in your health, in your career and in business. An example of exercising your faith in the area of your health (as recorded in the Bible) is papa Abraham. Bible says:

And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb:
He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;
And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness. – Romans 4:19-25

Abraham exercised his faith in the area of health as regards child bearing and, as stated in the scripture above, he got the result. By natural law, it was impossible for Sarah to conceive, but Abraham and Sarah refused to consider nature. Bible says that they refused to stagger/cower at the promise of God. They remained strong in faith giving glory to God.

Faith is a highly recommended principle for living, not just living, but living victoriously. Living above and beyond what the natural mind can comprehend, living supernaturally. It behoves you to grow that measure of faith of yours and exercise it. It is a conscious work. Remember:

For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. – James 2:26

I charge you today to grow your faith, I charge you to put your faith to work and produce results with the workings of your faith.
