Una hoja se quedó dormida
dónde no debía
cayó del árbol un día
sobre un burro que ahí permanecía.
El burro paso una noche en el lugar
y luego se marchó con seguridad,
a la ciudad fue a dar
llevando la hoja que dormida está.
A leaf fell asleep
where it shouldn't have
and one day fell from the tree
onto a donkey that was standing there.
The donkey spent the night there
and then set off confidently,
heading for the city
carrying the sleeping leaf.
Un mosco que por ahí pasaba,
vio la hoja dormida y le causó gracia
se acercó a despertarla
y le dió una suave picada.
La hoja asustada se levantó
el lugar no reconoció,
¿dónde su árbol quedó?
y, ¿cómo volverá al lugar donde nació?
A fly that happened to be passing by
saw the sleeping leaf and found it amusing;
it flew over to wake her up
and gave her a gentle bite.
The startled leaf woke up;
she didn’t recognize the place,
where was her tree?
And how would she get back to the place where she was born?
El burro le dijo que dejara el drama
que puede llevarla donde él vaya,
será nómada, sin una casa
pero conocerá el mundo y estará acompañada.
Y así se fueron a viajar,
un burro y una hoja felices van,
una amistad singular
que nació de imprevisto y por siempre durará.
The donkey told her to stop being so dramatic,
that he could take her wherever he went,
that she’d be a nomad, without a home,
but she’d see the world and have company.
And so they set off on their journey,
a donkey and a leaf traveling happily together,
a unique friendship
that began unexpectedly and will last forever.
