ID management systems based on Blockchain for Canada are being developed
Currently, several identity management systems are being developed by Blockchain in cooperation with several Canadian provincial governments.
Several Canadian provincial governments, as well as six of the country's largest credit institutions and its three major wireless service providers, are involved in a project that aims to bring a blockchain-based identity management system to Canada.
Users will be able to access the service, which will be built on a Blockchain platform developed by IBM, through a mobile phone and Windows applications to demonstrate their identity during interactions with banks, telecommunications providers and governments. The customer's registration is expected to be operational in the first half of 2018 .
A spokesperson for SecureKey Technologies Inc., the company that develops the system, told ETHNews that it is currently not authorized to reveal which provincial governments are involved, but that the service "will be spread across Canada," not just in political entities. participants.
In addition to speeding up the identity verification process, SecureKey CEO Greg Wolfond is confident that building the system in a decentralized manner will prevent the creation of data honeypots, large repositories of customer information frequently run by hackers looking to win money getting and then selling your information or taking advantage of its contents.
In a seemingly unrelated development, through the Small Business Innovation Challenge (SBIC), the Ontario Centers of Excellence granted by the Government of that state granted an undisclosed amount of funding to the Nuco member of the Alliance Enterprise Ethereum to develop a mechanism Driven by Blockchain for identity verification.
The SBIC, which encourages private sector actors to face the challenges of the public sector, does not seem committed to adopting any service that Nuco eventually delivers.
A Nuco representative said that the system, adapted to use cases in which people "interact with government services," will streamline the updating of user information in multi-agency databases, allow customers to control exactly which data they are shared with which agency, and avoid the unauthorized retrieval of information through the use of executable distributed code contracts.
