Valentine's Day is approaching and you can never be too prepared. My idea was to print a rose and a vase in advance. To save some design time, I was searching for already designed parts from Thingiverse. I found perfect parts for me, the vase, the stem and the flower. All these I decided to print using different colors.
First, I download the vase to the Cura and give some necessary parameters. It is not always necessary to give parameters because there are some very good pre-parameters already as default but I adjusted them a little bit. Cura also shows estimated printing time and needed materials.
Next, I’ll print the stem and the flower. We must print those separately because we want to use different colors and my printer isn’t capable to print multiple colors at the same time. To print the rose, we must use a smaller nozzle compared to the stem and layer thicknesses should be thinner. We have to change the nozzle size from 0,4mm to 0,25mm and layer thicknesses from 0.1mm to 0,06mm to achieve the quality we need. Naturally, we can’t print walls with thickness of 0,3mm using 0,4mm nozzle and that’s why we have to use smaller nozzles. By changing the nozzle and layer thicknesses we are almost doubling the printing time.
After printing all needed parts, we must glue the stem and the rose together and let the parts wait until Valentine’s Day. That printing task was fast and easy to do because all the parts were already designed and downloaded to Tingiverse. Thanks for that.
