Nahhh, mainstream platforms are brimming with authors who are trying to monetize their fame/influence in a way or another.

Then why aren't they already here? The fact is that getting people to join Steem has been extraordinarily difficult. You'd think that any YouTuber struggling to make money would be overjoyed at the prospect of making Steem posts with his YT videos embedded and raking in the rewards. After all, it takes less than a minute to cross post that stuff to Steem. But, as baffling as it is, no. They won't join. This blockchain stuff is way over the heads of even intelligent normos. It's quite remarkable when you think about. It's as if they sensed how radical this is and recoiled in unconscious horror. I've talked with @lanzjoseg with this. He's a university professor in Venezuela and many of his students struggle financially as does most of the country. Even they won't consider Steem. That is utterly astonishing to me.

That post is actually in disagreement with what @acidyo is suggesting. You're either too worked up to have noticed that or too dense to get it. What @acidyo and @ocd are trying to do is acquire funding for an onboarding program. What I'm saying is that the big picture is that it may even be counterproductive to emphasize the money.

That statement of mine is absolutely true. There are BILLIONS of people posting content to mainstream platforms all the time without any compensation.

But take Average Joe and tell'em there is a platform out there you can post your cat pictures to and earn crypto and they'll either give you a blank stare or look at you as if you had two heads. I've seen this behavior with my own eyes. You tend to get nowhere by promising money for things people's theories of value says are valueless.

You see, everything about the fundamentals of Steem flies in the face of what ordinary people think about value. They actually think this platform is nothing but a scam. I've talked to people on Steem and many others have had great difficulty getting anyone to join. It's been an eye-opening experience to try. Most people really are like zombies in the sense that they take everything Steem and the cryptocurrency movement is against as a given.

You see, scam or not, there is absolutely nothing to lose by posting to Steem and getting rewards but the average person's brain refuses to accept that cold hard fact. The average person is an unbelievably irrational creature.
