STEEM no longer seems to be following a lower lows lower highs pattern. To me, that looks like the beginning of a rounding bottom. Sellers are losing STEEM, or rather, have already lost it so much that the bottoms of their bags are already visible.
When Bitcoin came crashing down in in the final week of September, so did STEEM. The last local high of Steem a few days ago was higher than the last three prior local highs. I'm cautiously optimistic about the price movement of STEEM in the near future.
There is a Steem DAO Proposal for changing the 13 week powerdown period into a four-week one. I wonder how that would change the price action of STEEM when/if the next bull run propels it back to higher levels with the rest of the altcoins. Could it be that the kind of mad spike we saw in January 2018 will not occur again when many more investors will be ready to dump their coins if STEEM tries to spike? Then again, investing in STEEM during the a bear market will be less risky to investors when the powerdown period is four weeks instead of three months. I don't think increased liquidity would be a bad thing. But I also don't think the powerdown period should be any shorter because the account recovery period is 30 days.
What do you think?
