A storage building with a floor area of 1700 m2 mostly containing timber and plastics is on fire. Explosions have been heard. There were 20 units are reportedly at the scene putting out the fire that has spread out into the terrain near the building. The fire is under control now, however. I heard siren noise coming from various directions, which means that the local fire department must have received reinforcements from voluntary fire brigades in the entire region.
For a brief moment, I pondered if I should try and go nearer to shoot better photos of the smoke but rejected the idea because the smoke is hazardous to health and there is no need for bystanders to go anywhere near it to disturb the firefighters.
This fire engine is taking water from a nearby small river. It takes very large quantities of water to put out a fire that size.
