There are many ways of backing stablecoins, honestly I don't know which one is the best.
One thing is for sure, the current system is very dangerous. I always had that intuition, it has taken a long time to flesh out exactly why. But the worst part is: we probably don't understand it fully yet.
"HBD hurts the brain and no one understands it" is good enough reason to not have it.
Once I post on Monday, the main problems will be clearly exposed. I'm honestly afraid that
1- Nothing happens with HBD because people are used to it or think consequences are not terrible.
2- People realize I was right during the bear and start panic selling.
I know that blocktrades also misunderstands the 10% haircut as a hard limit on HBD printing, from some comments a while ago where I criticized HBD (I didn't understand it as well as I do right now). I feel you are also not completely convinced.
What I am thinking is: is it better for me not to post about HBD, talk about this more with you blocktrades and a few core devs, so that they code a fix before the bear market.
We don't necessarily need to make the hardfork changes now, just use it if inflation goes out of hand, and we can feel better that no one will panic dump because no one is worried about infinite inflation at the moment.
Edit - The other way would be to post and hope for the best. If nothing changes, when the bear market comes, witnesses can avoid infinite inflation by changing the feed price and temporarily default on HBD debt.
They could default during the 2-year bear market, and once hive rises enough to put us out of haircut problem, restore the HBD backing.
I doubt I can convince every witness to do that in advance. If inflation starts to happen at an increasing rate, maybe it will be possible then. But it's a gamble.
That's why I think coding a fix in advance is probably best. I'd like your input on this.
