So i have finished the book Leviathan. It is Thomas Hobbes best work (or so i was told before i read it). A trend i have noticed about modern philosophy books is that they start out explaining things that are already known to ,in a sense, prove they did their homework. So Hobbes explains all basic human emotions then the emotions that are created when the basic emotions are combined. Hobbes then goes on to explain the why and what of a sovereignty. He intricately explains why we have cities, what the cities do for the civilians, the power the cities have over the civilians, and the rights the citizens have. While Hobbes is giving constant explanations his discourse becomes much more complex. After explaining cites Hobbes describes the next level of control, Religion. Hobbes explains how religion became intertwined in government and the interaction between state and church. He finishes the book with explaining what comes of the misunderstandings of religions and how we interpret the bible. Overall the book didn't really shine any new light on me. I already had dove deep into the subjects described in the book so i did not gain much from it. If you have had some want of learning some of the topics that i presented that he explains then this would be a great book to read.

If you have read this tell me what you think!!
