The Progression of Sin - Part 1
Key Verses: Genesis 3 and Psalm 1
Objective:
a. To understand that sin has progression.
b. To understand that all big sin comes from small things.
c. To know that God's desire is for us to be set free.
Introduction:
No one in this world experience hatred just because he wants to hate or it is his nature to hate. There must be a reason behind it. Like a tree around you, you may not see it, but there is a root underneath it.
Same is true with sin. It all starts from something small, something we never thought will lead us to sin. Since the beginning of man's creation, it is the desire of Satan to kill, steal and destroy man's life but Jesus came that we nay have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10)
a. Simple Conversation - Genesis 3:1
Any connection with the enemy will not lead you right. The enemy may just appear to us as someone who wants to have some coffee drink and chitchat with us about some things. In this verse, he just simply ask eve about the tree and its fruit "Women, did God really tell you that you must not eat from any tree in the garden?". He knows that the answer of this question will really be "No.", because he knows that God restricted not any tree but only that one tree, the tree of knowledge of good and evil. But he started with a simple question with the intention that Eve will converse with him and with that starts also a simple connection. He doesn't want to look bad at first.
Simple conversation implies simple connection. I bet you don't want to be connected with him, so from this day on remove any connection. Remove any things that may lead you to sin. Let your connection be restricted only to Jesus.
But How?
God gave us the gift of discernment whether whose His and whose not. As written on Matthew 7:15-23, you can see it by their fruits, these means their actions or words. It is not God's design for us to fall into sin, so cut out the grass immediately before it distract your other healthy plants.
To be continued.
