The largest online portfolio of the Coinbase and GDAX trading platform said they would introduce Segregated Witness (SegWit)
SegWit technology is designed to increase speed and reduce commissions for Bitcoin transactions. Many exchanges and services complain about network congestion related to the inefficient use of block space to address these issues - SegWit.
The last week was remembered by a number of events that have become important stages in technology uptake. The latest version of Bitcoin Core, released on February 15, for the first time fully supports SegWit. A few days later, on February 20, Coinbase announced that they had completed the testing of the technology. Later Bitfinex Exchange and Trading Platform also announced the launch of SegWit support for all its customers.
This week, transactions with record low fees have been reported, down from their peak in December 2017 and January 2018.

When GDAX representatives announced Bitcoin Cash's support in mid-January, many users were shocked because they believed the introduction of SegWit technology was a priority.

Now, both GDAX and Coinbase reported that their plans include the introduction of other solutions to the bitcoin network scaling problem. In particular, "Layer 2", Lightning Network.
