It is in the dense pine forest near Praia das Maçãs, seaside resort of Colares in Portugal, that the house hovers over the landscape.
The architects opted for a single volume with two distinct faces: one more closed and another more exuberant and exposed. The entrance is marked by a ramp that gently transports its owners inside the house, merging unexpectedly with the outside. All spaces in the house have independent access with the outside. Thus, all the different environments establish a strong relationship with the pine forest, the patio is born of this desire and serves as a hinge between social space and private space. The few materials of the house create a unique atmosphere. The outer porch due to its elevation in relation to the ground appears suspended above the pine forest. The large glazed windows allow the entrance of the natural light during a big part of the day and thus the heating of the space. Minimizing the effects on the natural landscape of the site, the pine forest was left as it was before construction.
