Getting to know God will keep our minds occupied for all eternity. With all certainty, we have no hope of exhausting the issue. God is incomprehensible to finite man. It is not that He has tried to hide from man. On the contrary, he longs to be known and has made himself known.
Our inability to understand God is not because He has not been willing to make himself known, but because of our limitations. Because God has tried to make himself known to man, He is knowable to some extent. Knowing God means having eternal life (John 17.3). Our constant purpose must be to be more and more familiar with God, even if it is impossible to fully understand his perfections.
«Great is our Lord, and of great power; and his
understanding is infinite »(Psalm 147.5).
The term "infinite" gives the idea of absence of any limitation. There is nothing out of God's reach. He is impossible to measure. You can not imagine limits to His greatness.
OMNISCIENCE
God is present in everything and absent from nothing. Therefore, He is present with all His power to know. His perfect mind can not be present without knowing what is in His presence. In other words, God can not be omnipresent without knowing everything.
In Psalm 139, the author was celebrating with reverent joy the attributes of omnipresence and omniscience.
The idea that the psalmist implies is that God knows everything because He is everywhere. It is everywhere in His universe and in eternity.
If one can not escape the knowledge of God, it is because he can not escape from the presence of God.
OMNIPOTENCE
When Abraham was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, "I am the Almighty God" (Genesis 17.1). This name implies the strength and power of God. After God promised Abraham an heir, and after Sarah laughed at the promise, God asked Abraham this question: "Is there anything difficult for God?" (Genesis 18.14).
Those who are familiar with God as presented in the pages of the Bible and as observed in Jesus Christ, must answer this question with a decisive "No!". The power of God is the most obvious of His attributes. "Everything is possible for God," Jesus declared (Matthew 19:26). When the angel appeared to Mary and informed her that God had chosen her to be the mother of the Lord, he added: "For nothing is impossible for God" (Luke 1:37).
Miracles have given credit to the great power of God. He was able to prevent the fire from hurting Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. He could divide the waters of the Red Sea, make an ax float, soothe a furious tempest and transform the water into delicious wine. The creation of matter from nothingness is a demonstration of infinite power.
The infinity of God is a source of great comfort and satisfaction for the child of God. Since God is everywhere, He is within me and close to me. God is inside me! He is close to help me everywhere, and to save me from all enemies and problems. «The Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing [...] "(Philippians 4.5-6). We are always under the eye of our Father; We can have true and vital communion with Him anywhere.
