From Bad Luck to a Perfect Reflection: A Morning at the Pond #smarp REFLECTION HUNTERS CONTEST - Round 289

Do you know those days when the morning just doesn't go the way you planned? That exact thing happened to me last Saturday—and it turned out to be a total stroke of luck for my photography!

My morning actually started out peacefully enough with an early photo session. Afterwards, I planned to head over to my girlfriend's place to relax. But when I got there, a little surprise awaited me: she was still fast asleep, and I had foolishly left my key stuck in the lock from the inside. No way in. Locked out.

Instead of getting upset, I decided to make the best of the situation and just keep moving. I headed toward a nearby pond that I hadn’t originally planned on visiting. And there, I was met with a sight I am incredibly grateful for in hindsight.

The early morning light was just perfect. It cast a warm, soft glow over the pond. And then I saw her: this gorgeous duck calmly gliding across the lively water.

What makes these shots so special to me is the interplay of light and this very unique reflection. The water wasn't rigid or glass-smooth; instead, it had a gently moving texture, in which the contours of the duck were rendered wonderfully soft, almost like a painted brushstroke. It was a magical moment that I simply had to capture.

I am thrilled to share this series of four images with you. Each picture shows a slightly different angle, but all of them capture that special mood by the water.
