I don’t want to look at what I've looked at
through the crystal of experience;
The world is a market where
They buy honors, wills and conscience.

Friends? ... It's a lie, there are no friends!
True friendship is illusion,
it changes, it moves away and disappears
with the twists that the situation gives.

Complacent friends only have those
who enjoy happiness and calm,
but those who go through the misfortune
only have sadness in the soul.

If we are well, we are treated with affection
They look for us, they invite us, they flatter us:
but if we fall, frankly
Only by compliance do they greet us

In this labyrinth of life,
where evil dominates so much,
everything has it stipulated price:
loves, relationships and friendship.

Those who do not treasure anything, are worthless,
in every meeting he passes for a fool,
and no matter how noble their deeds are,
what he receives is mockery and contempt.

Only what glitters has a place
and even if it shines for gold what is copper,
what we do not forgive in life
is the atrocious crime of being poor.

Corruption, vice and even crime
can have its appointed position;
defect sores are invisible
if covered by a well-cut diamond.

The society that adores its derogation
pursues the criminal with great ferocity,
but if the assassin's dagger is of gold,
it is muted ... and the judge kisses the dagger!

Nothing human is perfect and nothing affable,
everything is intermingled with the impure,
Even the heart being so noble,
how many times it appears masked!

There is virtue, I do not deny it,
but always as a whole defective:
there are traits of kindness in the evil man,
there are features of evil in the kindly man.

When I see so much infamy in my step
and that mud stains my feet.
I want to curse life,
I feel like cursing everything.

No one will hurt what I say here,
because I'm holding to the truth:
They gave me gall and poison,
gall and poison in reward that I give.

But if I sin with the coarse words
of these dark and nameless lines
bending my knees in the dust
I ask forgiveness from God, but not from man.
