The darkness engulfs me like an old friend.
I am safe here.
Protected from the bright, cruel world.
I can breathe.
I am free.

But then the shadows begin to move,
To writhe and twist like snakes.
They coil around me, tightening their grip.
I can't escape.
I can't escape.

The darkness is alive.
And it is hungry.

It wants to consume me.
To devour my soul.
To drag me down into the abyss.

I fight.
I fight with all my might.
But I am outnumbered and outmatched.

The darkness is winning.
Slowly, inexorably, it is eating away at me.
Dragging me down into the depths of despair.

I am lost.
I am lost in the dark.
And I am scared.

Scared of what awaits me in the darkness.
Scared of what the darkness will do to me.

I am struggling.
I am struggling to keep my grip on reality.
But I am losing the fight.

The darkness is winning.
And I am scared.
