Founded around the year 1000, in 1378 after various memberships, it was delivered by Gian Galeazzo Visconti to Jacopo Dal Verme
The garden of the Rocca hosts mysterious natural caves inside which traces of prehistoric settlements have been found and the well of the Devil, 50 meters deep. It is said to lead to a secret passage that can be used to escape the castle in case of danger and sieges. But the entire fortress is shrouded in legends and full of pitfalls and secret passages.
The main entrance bears the Latin motto Arx impavida written on the internal jamb, which can be translated into Italian as a fortress that fears nothing.
Since 1979 it has been owned by the Bengalli family.
It can be visited and it is also possible to stay in the beautiful rooms of the castle. It is part of the Castles of the Duchy of Parma and Piacenza.
