In 2011 an organization began to develop an artificial intelligence project called “Todai Project”. A robot that was capable to pass the access test to the Tokio university, which is one of the most prestigious universities in Japan.

But how a robot can pass a test?

The fact is that all the modern artificial intelligence such as Watson, Siri or Todai, are just estadistic machines !! They pick up information about us and what surround us through diverse sources such as text books, wikipedia, facebook or twitter and then they combine it in order to improve it.

Actually they don’t understand what they are talking about but say it correctly because of statistics. So Todai don’t understand anything, but selects keywords to know about what information is related the question.

The robot stood up mainly with Physics and Math, although didn’t pass History and Language. And now we can see the principal problem not only of Todai, but with the artificial intelligence in general: the modern artificial intelligence don’t have brain, this is because their intelligence is based in statistics. For the robots it’s complicated yet to think, reason like us. However what they know to do is express what they are doing.

Don't underestimate artificial intelligence!

Even though artificial intelligence don’t think like us yet, don’t underestimate it because it has has been developing exponentially during last ten years!!!

Although I want to see an artificial intelligence thinking like us while I live, at the same time, I don’t want that to happen. Actually I have fear that the day arrives, because I don’t know how we will manage a robot thinking like us and having the potential to overpass our intelligence exponentially.

I think we should go more slowly with it, assuring we are doing it well, being capable at any time to turn it off if the situation goes “complicated”.
