For this blackandwhite challenge, I propose here some nocturnal black and white photographs of the Mindelo shipyard, in Cape Verde. We definitely don’t have the same jobs or the same salary recognition. In this photograph, it’s around 11 p.m. A Chinese fishing boat arrived, was knocked ashore at the shipyard, and stripping work must begin immediately. The specialists in sandblasting are here. Until late at night they will point their sand lance under pressure to strip the hull of this fishing boat. The dust is dense, the noise is deafening, they have rather basic protective equipment, and their pay will not value the harshness of their work. They will go to bed around midnight, and will be back there at 7:00 in the morning to pick up where they left off. We definitely don’t have the same jobs...
