I'd like to think that life is simple but sometimes, it is not the case. Sometimes, we are bogged down by the complexity that life brings or the circumstances that surrounds it that we forget.
We forget how simple things can be if we break them down, we forget to be thankful and grateful for what we have and we forget what truly matters. Instead of mulling over what we don't have or what has failed, I think it is important to stay grounded, to be reminded that there are many beautiful things around us, if only we take a moment to see them, to experience them.
My Zen?
Every morning, while preparing breakfast (or any meal for that matter) in the kitchen, to be able to see a lettuce having new life, growing roots and sprouting from its sides happily at the window sill:
...when I see the morning sun shining at the purple spinach growing taller, from seeds that were thrown into the pot some days ago:
...when I noticed that the onion greens growing happily from an onion that was half rotten just last week:
...when my only surviving cactus and succulent which I re-potted yesterday (with hopes that they will grow more), are all still alive today:
After preparing breakfast, to be able to sit down in peace, to enjoy my bowl of warm oats topped with sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, raisins and grind nuts, cut fruits and a cup of warm coffee while catching up on my drama series on our faithful old iPad:
...in between chores, to be able to find a matching piece or two or three in a jigsaw puzzle of my favourite characters and then being able to complete it:
.. and after completing my day's work and chores, to be able to sit in front of my iPad again and work on one of my needlework projects, this round, hexagons for a potential undecided patchwork project:
Now, I am off to my zen session....
This is my entry to Qurator's Monday Missions | Show us your Zen.
