Seasons : Highly nomadic much of year, but all year in much of North; fall, winter, spring southward.
Range : Canada to Florida and Gulf of Mexico; breeds south to c. U.S. and in mountains to n. Georgia; winters north to s. Canada.
Note : The red waxlike spots on the wings are unique and give this bird its name.
