According to the researches, the communities lived in the Lower Paleolithic age for the first time in Tekirdağ. The communities lived in Tekirdağ during the Copper Age and Chalcolithic period. There are many tumulus in this period in Tekirdağ.

However, in a short period of time in all of these occupieds, Turks regain control of Tekirdağ. And Tekirdağ has always been an important city for Turks.
