Communities in Malatya began to live in 6000 BC for the first time. In 2000 BC, Malatya was conquered by the Hittites.

But in 705 BC Malatya was conquered by the Assyrian state. But the kingdom of Med soon conquered Malatya. Malatya was later conquered by the Persians. But during these wars, Malatya suffered a lot of damage. And almost all of Malatya was destroyed.
In the following years, Malatya was conquered by the Roman Empire. After the collapse of the Roman Empire, the Byzantine Empire began to control Malatya.
In the following years, Turks began to settle in Malatya and its surroundings. And Malatya was conquered by the Seljuk state. In 1515, Malatya began to be controlled by the Ottoman Empire. because of having the proper land in agricultural areas, Malatya has always been an important city of the Ottoman Empire and the Republic of Turkey.
