According to researchs, the communities first lived in the Neolithic age in Konya. In addition, the communities lived in Konya and its vicinity during Chalcolithic and Bronze Age. Konya was first used by the Hittite kingdom as a city.
Many states have tried to conquer Konya because the have suitable lands. And after the kingdom of Hitite, the states that conquered Konya are Phrygia, Lydia, Persia, Macedonia and Rome respectively. Konya has been ruled by the Rome and Byzantine empires for many years.
In 1071, Konya was conquered by the Seljuk State. And since then, Konya has changed hands among many Turkish states. In 1467, Konya was conquered by the Ottoman Empire. After the breakup of the Ottoman Empire, Konya has been a city of the Republic of Turkey.
