According to research, the first kingdom governing Aksaray is the kingdom of Hittite. After the dissolution of the Hittite kingdom, Aksaray began to be governed by the kingdom of Cappadocia. Aksaray is a very important city for the kingdom of Cappadocia. Therefore, many investments were made by the kingdom of Cappadocia to Aksaray.
In the following years, Aksaray was conquered by the Roman Empire. After the division of the Roman empire, Aksaray became a city of the Byzantine Empire.
In 1078, Aksaray was conquered by Seljuk Empire. And in later years, Aksaray changed hands among many Turkish kingdoms. In 1468, Aksaray was conquered by the Ottoman Empire. After the breakup of the Ottoman Empire, Aksaray has been the city of the Republic of Turkey.
