The first community statement living in Adana belongs to 3000 years ago. According to historical findings, in the Paleolithic and Neolithic times, small communities lived around Adana and Adana.
Adana first began to grow in 1900 BC as a city by the Kingdom of Luvi. In 1500 BC, Adana was ruled by the kingdom of Arzava. In these two kingdoms, it belonged to the Hittite empire. Therefore, Adana was used by the Hittites as a maritime trade center. Until 1200 BC, the Hittites controlled Adana.
After the collapse of the Hittite empire, the city of Adana constantly changed hands. And at that time the city of Adana lost its importance. By 112 BC, the city of Adana was governed by Assyrians, Persians, Greeks, Seleucids and Cilicia respectively. In 112 BC, the Roman Empire conquered Adana. Adana is also an insignificant city during the Roman empire. In fact, for some time the city of Adana was used as a prison for pirates of Cilicia.
With the division of the Roman Empire in 395, the city of Adana began to be ruled by the Byzantine empire. The city of Adana has begun to become important especially after this period. By the Byzantines, many bridges and roads were made to Adana. And Adana has become an important city in both trade and agriculture. Upon passing the Silk road from Adana, the city became very important.
After Adana was an important city, many kingdoms tried to conquer Adana. Especially Arabs, Turks, Byzantines and Armenians tried to control Adana. And that's why Adana has changed hands several times. Finally Adana was conquered by the Ottoman Empire. And many investments were made in Adana by the Ottoman Empire. And the city of Adana continued to be an important city in terms of both agricultural and maritime trade.
