Hey Actifitters,
Yesterday I had some errands to run, and I also went for lunch with former colleagues. When I came back home in the afternoon, the snow storm was starting. For once, the forecast was quite accurate. Before long, it was snowing quite heavily, somewhere between 1 and 2 inches an hour according to the official numbers. Because it wasn't really cold, it was also very wet and heavy snow. More on that below.
Kaia was ready to play!
But she had to wait for a little bit before we started our night walk. Even before getting to the forest, we could hear lots of noises from tree branches breaking. Like I said, very heavy snow! We also saw several entire trees down. But the most impressive part was when we arrived to the pathway leading to the forest entrance. A constant noise of trees breaking, interspersed with loud noises of branches falling hard on the ground...
The entrance to the forest wasn't much more reassuring, with all these bent trees and bushes covering the trail. We went in anyways but I kept Kaia on leash at first.
After a few minutes, I took the leash off Kaia, but she never went far. Apparently, she could feel and I guess hear something wasn't right.
This was beautiful but we didn't stay long, it really seemed way too dangerous. We went back to the streets, it was safer, with just a few big trees to pay attention to.
As you may know, I love the snow, if I could live somewhere always under snow, I would, but that was just scary last night. I was glad to be back home after our walk, still with power (although everything indicated there was at least a short outage while we were walking), and no apparent damage.
As always, thanks for stopping by and see you tomorrow.
