This is my first entry in this new weekly photography contest, which I recently discovered on this platform, and although I must confess that night photography doesn’t always come easily to me, I decided to give it a try and see how it turns out.

In early February of this year, I traveled with my sister and our mother to Tucacas, a coastal town located on the shores of the Caribbean Sea in northwestern Venezuela.

The main attraction of this area is that it lies within Morrocoy National Park, one of the country’s most visited and sought-after tourist destinations due to its numerous cays and islets, which feature beautiful beaches with warm, crystal-clear waters and white sands—making it ideal for water sports or simply relaxing by the sea.

We had the opportunity to stay at a beachfront residential complex, which features a marina for boat owners, as well as barbecue areas in the common spaces and three swimming pools that I thoroughly enjoyed while sunbathing.

Esta es mi primera participación en esta nueva competencia fotográfica semanal, que recientemente descubrí en este ecosistema, y aunque debo confesar que la fotografía nocturna no siempre se me da bien, decidí intentarlo a ver que tal sale.

A principios de Febrero de este año, viajé en compañía de mi hermana y nuestra madre a Tucacas, una población costera ubicada a orillas del Mar Caribe, en el noroccidente de Venezuela.

El principal atractivo de esta zona, radica en que se encuentra dentro del Parque Nacional Morrocoy, uno de los mas visitados y apetecidos destinos turísticos del país por sus numerosos cayos e isletas que poseen hermosas playas de aguas cálidas y transparentes, además de arenas blancas, que lo hacen idóneo para la práctica de deportes acuáticos, o sencillamente, descansar a orilla del mar.

Tuvimos la oportunidad de alojarnos en un complejo residencial ubicado en la orilla, y el cual cuenta con una marina para quienes poseen embarcaciones, además de parrilleras en las áreas comunes y tres piscinas que disfruté mucho mientras tomaba el sol.

Since I was a child—and particularly since my teenage years—I have spent some time both in Tucacas and in the neighboring town of Chichiriviche. Over the past two or three decades, this coastal region has experienced extraordinary growth in the construction of hotels, vacation homes, and residential resort complexes to meet the demand from domestic and international visitors who flock to its beaches.

Although our stay in this beautiful corner of the world was quite brief—since our trip was not for vacation but rather for personal matters my mother had to attend to there—it’s always a pleasure to have the opportunity to relax and get away from the daily routine for a bit, and doing so by the sea is undoubtedly an excellent option.

Unfortunately, this region was also affected by the tragic double earthquake that struck Venezuela on June 24, but unlike the central region of the country, which was devastated, the damage here was much less severe.

As I have described in previous posts, I process the original photographs using the editing tools offered in their free versions by the applications Picsart and Snapseed.

Desde niño, y particularmente desde mi adolescencia, he pasado algunas temporadas, tanto en Tucacas como en la vecina población de Chichiriviche. Esta región costera, en el transcurso de las últimas dos o tres décadas, ha experimentado un extraordinario crecimiento en la construcción de hoteles, viviendas vacacionales y complejos turísticos residenciales para atender la demanda de visitantes nacionales y extranjeros que acuden a sus playas.

Aunque nuestra estadía en este hermoso rincón fue bastante breve, ya que nuestro viaje no obedecía a vacaciones sinó a asuntos personales que mi madre debía atender allí, siempre es placentero contar con la oportunidad de relajarse saliendo un poco de la rutina diaria, y hacerlo a orilla del mar es indudablemente una excelente opción.

Lamentablemente, esta región también resultó afectada tras el trágico doblete sísmico que se registró en Venezuela el pasado 24 de Junio, pero a diferencia de la región central del país que resultó desvastada, los daños aquí fueron de mucha menor cuantía.
