En el casco histórico de la ciudad de Barquisimeto, está ubicada una vieja casona de gran valor arquitectónico e histórico, que fuese construida alrededor del año 1634 para albergar en sus inicios a un antiguo convento de franciscanos, y que desde 1965 hasta la actualidad, es sede del Centro Larense de Historia, institución fundada en 1941. Esta edificación que sufriría severos daños durante el terremoto de 1812 que azotara gran parte del territorio venezolano, también sería el Colegio Nacional de Barquisimeto luego de su reconstrucción.

El Centro Larense de Historia tiene la función primordial de preservar y estudiar la memoria histórica de la región, además en su interior, se encuentra la Fototeca de la ciudad, donde se reguarda el patrimonio fotográfico local y de gran parte del país. Lamentablemente, como consecuencia de la grave crisis que atraviesa Venezuela, esta institución acusa un déficit de recursos que le impide ejercer a plenitud su función como academia de la historia regional.

La fotografía original fue tomada recientemente durante un paseo que realizara al centro de la ciudad, modificándola posteriormente con las herramientas que proporciona el editor de imágenes PicsArt.

In the historic center of the city of Barquisimeto, an old house of great architectural and historical value is located, which was built around the year 1634 to house in its beginnings an old convent of Franciscans, and that from 1965 to the present, is headquarters of the Larense History Center, institution founded in 1941. This building that would suffer severe damage during the earthquake of 1812 that hit much of the Venezuelan territory, would also be the National College of Barquisimeto after its reconstruction.

The Larense History Center has the primary function of preserving and studying the historical memory of the region, as well as inside, the Fototeca of the city, where the local photographic heritage and much of the country is stored. Regrettably, as a consequence of the serious crisis that Venezuela is going through, this institution suffers a deficit of resources that prevents it from fully exercising its function as an academy of regional history.
