El oficio de barbero es tan antiguo como la presencia del hombre sobre la faz de la tierra. En la antiguedad, tanto en Roma como en Grecia, los hombres acudían a las barberías con la finalidad de satisfacer las necesidades que en sus propios hogares no podían lograr sin ayuda externa: cortar sus cabellos y afeitar sus caras; mientras las clases pudientes poseían, con frecuencia, un hábil esclavo, que con tijeras, espejos y navajas de diferentes tamaños, cumplían los deseos y caprichos de sus amos.

Esta imagen que tomé el pasado año 2019, corresponde a un barbero ejerciendo su ancestral oficio, en una barbería ubicada en el centro de la ciudad de Barquisimeto, lugar al que estoy acudiendo desde principios del pasado año, por lo atractivo de sus precios y los resultados que observo en el cuidado de mi cabello y mi barba. Posteriormente, modifiqué la fotografía original haciendo uso de la aplicación PicsArt, empleando una superposición de filtros, comenzando con un filtro del tipo HDR (High Dynamic Range) con la finalidad de ampliar los tonos de la imagen original, y posteriormente un filtro sencillo de Blanco & Negro, un procedimiento que ya he usado con anterioridad en otras publicaciones, para finalizar con un filtro que me permitió "enmarcar" la imagen, con la finalidad de darle un toque retro a la misma.

The office of barber is as old as the presence of man on the face of the earth. In ancient times, both in Rome and in Greece, men went to the barbershops in order to meet the needs that in their own homes could not achieve without external help: cut their hair and shave their faces; while the wealthy classes often possessed a skilled slave, who with scissors, mirrors and knives of different sizes, fulfilled the wishes and whims of their masters.

This image that I took last year, corresponds to a barber exercising his ancestral trade, in a Barbershop located in the center of the city of Barquisimeto, a place I have been going to since the beginning of last year, due to the attractiveness of its prices and the results that I observe in the care of my hair and my beard. Recently, I modified the original photograph using the PicsArt application, using an overlay of filters, starting with an HDR (High Dynamic Range) type filter in order to expand the tones of the original image, and later a Simple Black & White filter, a procedure that I have used previously in other publications, to finish with a filter that allowed me to "frame" the image, in order to give it a vintage look.
