The Baiturrahman Grand Mosque is very famous in my province. This mosque has been around since 1612, built by Sultan Iskandar Muda as a place of worship for Muslims. This mosque was also burned by the Dutch and rebuilt in 1877. In 2004, a tsunami occurred in the city of Banda Aceh which was very powerful, but this mosque was able to stand strong and thousands of refugees were accommodated in this mosque. The building is very spacious and unique, with a clean white feel and seven black domes. In addition, the mosque area has electric umbrellas similar to the Nabawi Mosque in Saudi Arabia.
