It will be three years coming this end of June beginning of July that Scary Mary's five feral kittens were trapped and incarcerated by me....
I had been feeding the stray Scary Mary for awhile and knew she had a litter of kittens nearby. By the time I found out where her den was the kittens had gotten to big to make friends with. Besides Mary was a very protective mother and could provide plenty of food with her excellent hunting ability.

Belgian block skid was the first den and was also the den of Mommy aka Good Girl 3 yrs earlier.
Mary with 4 of her 5 kittens. I was shooting over a 5 foot stockade fence to get this shot. If the kittens knew I was around they would quickly hide.
I was leery in trapping them in Scary Mary's presents because she had already bitten me on my heel and another time scratched me on the hand moving around the food I had given her. But it had to be done or a cat colony was sure to develop.
Well I managed to trap them one by one with a "have a hart" trap, until I got the last one July 4 2017...I had reached out earlier to cat rescue groups to trap, neuter and release but they could only give me advise over the phone. They were to busy because it was the kitten season and didn't even have a trap to lend me.
I kept them in cages on my porch at first but soon had to let them out to have the whole porch.
They were terrified of me at first then later just wanted no part of me when I spent time on the porch..
My plan now was to tame them, then find them homes. Patty only took 2 1/2 days to tame. I saw from videos you grab the kitten by the scruff of the neck then drop him on your chest. Hold him for a short time then release. It worked beautifully.
Unfortunately The other four took five weeks to tame. By that time they were getting big and would be harder to find them homes... I already had 7 house cats... My 3 original boys Larry, Curly and Dexter along with Mommy cat and her 3 that I took in 3 yrs ago.
So now I had 12 house cats with Scary Mary outside.

I managed to find a good home for girls Tina & Audrey but that left me with a barely manageable 10 plus Mary outside.
Eventually after 9 months outside I integrated, (that's a bad word Mary doesn't integrate), Mary inside.. By that time she wanted nothing to do with her now grown kitten.
