Greetings, fellow explorers of virtual realities!
Coming with a quick preview of a Starbound report I intend to soon make. I just started my first character in this universe. He's a Glitch. A robot with medieval cultural habits who explores a star system after his narrow escape from the destruction of Earth.
Well, races are just for flavor here. It's a Minecraft-like game in 2D. And in Space. With planets, moons, orbital stations, ships, etc. to jump to. Not just one world. But planets are relatively small and it's easy to make full trips around them.
The creeps are quite dangerous, though. And since only the starting planet is low-level, once you move away from there, things get ugly really soon.
I shall tell you more when I have the time to experience some more game play, quests and when I get deeper into the crafting "tech-tree".
For now, I shall reveal a way to handle those quest related high-level enemies who easily one-shot newbies like me.
I called this one "Revenge of the Glitch".
The dude or dudette had a minigun versus my shortsword and was annihilating my character almost on sight. Which led to loss of Pixels (the currency in the game) and all my collected materials until I was able to retrieve them.
So, I had to use the one advantage that I had.
As a Player Character, I am by default equipped with a Matter Manipulator tool. One that allows me to mine the terrain and to place new terrain blocks on the map. So I had to dig my way below the danger and from a better tactical position...enclose my enemy in hard-packed sand. For further use. Sand box? i guess I shall call my strategy thus.
Please, be patient now and wait for me to advance and get back to you. And to the other two of your kind which I later dealt with, temporarily, and in the same manner.
I am on quite another wave now. I put off such quests for when I am in the mood for such. Digging towards the core of my starter world now. And I am not sure I can get through the last layer of Lava I ofund on my previous login. But we shall see that. Matter Manipulators are powerful thingies.
See you all soon. Until then...
Good luck and have fun!
Yours,
Manol, A.K.A. M4N0L7H3M4D (My Glitch Alias)
