Urbanization created vacuum during the last couple of decades. Distorted housing market. Change of the norms about living conditions. Lack of resources. Time and natural laws applying to human civilization as well. Analogues, rather. Inevitable decline. Nothing is permanent.

Dust to dust.

Five structures in these nine photos.

The same quarter of the same small town that I showcased, albeit in different light, in this post:

Around The Corner — The Streltcha Memorial Church Quarter

Well, plus some more nearby locations.

As with most places, I guess,...

this town was forked a few times...

It rebelled, it left the Ottoman Empire along with a whole nation, it went on for some time but as a village (which it probably was before that, too), it was declared a town, steps were made towards turning it into a spa resort...

And technically, it still is. Technically...or naturally, it has the great resources of healing water and relative warmth provided by a natural source. Was it in Roman times, it would be a prime destination for veteran soldiers and nobility. Was it controlled by the Swiss, its current state would again be different. That thought leads me to a couple of others.

First, when I say current state, I assume it can change. Some desirable conditions being at hand, it only needs civilization to shift its focus..."Only"...lol.

Second, while not controlled by the Swiss, there was a period when it was within the Roman boundaries. It was inhabited by Thracian people then and they had some autonomy...from time to time.

Sun and Rock worshipers, those guys. Like me, it's just that I am less dedicated.

Third, speaking of dedication, it needs exactly that to grow to its full potential. But it's not part of any state policy now, and it's up to the private sector...or entities of decentralized interests...to pick up the ball and carry it forward. Or backward. Or sideways. In all directions, basically. We shall see if it catches winds and sails anywhere other than the Archives of Time.

Where the previous generations' houses are headed.

Peace and Inspiration!

Yours,

Manol
