Greetings, Fellow Onion Knights And Ogres!

This seasons long distance farming is in its early and enthusiastic stages. I am trying to visit our village yard once a week at least and do some work in the order that depends on the weather and the urgency of the tasks.

I have been Pruning Old Trees, I have been Planting New Trees, and the time has come to till some land and sow the seeds of things that would grow early. Of things that I think are suitable for long distance farming. More resilient, more self-sufficient, basically — underground growing things, mostly.

Yeah, I know we all love tomatoes and such but they require more care and somebody being more often with them.

So, this week, I started with a couple of types of onions and some garlic.

I also had a mission that was questionable but...I had to give it a chance. I planted the Christmas tree we had last December and I hope it somehow catches onto that soil and weather we have there. The altitude is not right. Still...some of those trees grow and live. Not reproducing as much as they would high up in the mountains, though. Sometimes not at all.

Time shall tell. Hopes not too high. Same altitude.

Digging holes has also become a hobby of mine.

Diggy Diggy Hole!

Digging a hole.

Then two.

Up to three.

Well, I have been on tree planting frenzy and this is one of the prospects that excites me the most, but we're running out of design space in our garden so I am going to slow it down a bit. I guess.

The thing with the saplings is...they come to the town market on Monday only. Otherwise, I would have to drive a hundred kilometres or so, going to their place of origin. Well, representatives of such places of origin come for our market day, perhaps relying on mostly retired people who can do whatever they please with their time on Mondays, too.

Well, if I am to steal some time off next Monday, I want to be effective and quick. So, today that unheard-off, super brilliant idea came to me.

What if I dug the holes for the trees in advance?

Done and done.

What remains to be seen is if the weather is fine on Monday and if I can restrain myself to buying no more than three new trees. It remains to be seen, indeed.

I also cleaned some more branches from old and encumbered fruit trees. I hope that serves them well.

Too much to be done. To few of me and in quite limited time. It is what it is.

Peace and Parsley!

Yours,

Manol
