I was fortunate enough to play this beautiful and challenging golf course back in October of 1989. One day before the Northern California earthquake in 1989.
Pebble Beach has hosted many major golf championships including the 1982 U.S. Open when Tom Watson chipped in from the deep rough on the 17th or 71st hole and then birdied the last hole to beat Jack Nicklaus by two strokes.
Back in 1972 Jack Nicklaus hit his 1-iron on to the par-3 17th hole and almost made a hole-in-one as he went on to win his third U.S. Open.
